Back to the Future with Fusion!
Welcome to the future! By selecting a Fusion Newsletter that does not yet exist, you have triggered the
Fusion Temporal Warp Drive plugin for your web browser. This is an experimental device and Fusion can take no
responsibility if your web browser's back button does not return you to the past. But don't panic, the future
is a pretty cool place to be - those clothes you are wearing might even have come back into fashion!
To return to the past, please try selecting a Fusion Newsletter that exists on your personal space-time line
(see S357 - Space, Time and Cosmology for more details).
Explore the Universe with Fusion
Well almost the Universe, as we have not yet quite perfected our Fusion
Temporal Warp Drive (see above), but you can extend your horizons by joining Fusion - The
Open University Physics Society. FUSION was formed by science students
who recognised the need to create a society for Open University students
and graduates whose primary interest is physics and astronomy.
Members of FUSION receive a regular newsletter with articles and
reviews provided by fellow students and professional physicists, plus
event updates and news from the OU's Department of Physics and
Astronomy. Previous organised events have included visits to Rutherford
Appleton Laboratory, Culham Science Centre, Mullard Radio Observatory,
Jodrell Bank, the Leicester Space Centre, Bletchly Park, Daresbury,
Sellafield and even CERN in Geneva.
FUSION organises a S207 Preparation Weekend and is co-sponsor of the
Science Revision Weekend, adding to the OU experience by bridging
the gap left by distance learning. The Society has well over 400 student
members, plus many OU Physics and Astronomy staff and Associate
Lecturers. Why not join FUSION (and NEXUS - the student wing of the
Institute of Physics), by completing a Fusion/IoP Application Form.
